TITLE:  My opinion on the Death Penalty

INSTRUCTIONS: 

CHOOSE one of the three options mentioned by the teacher concerning the death penalty and explain you mind on it.

Option 1 - The Death Penalty should be abolished in all cases all over the world.
Option 2 - The Death Penalty should be banished in general. However I would apply it in the following cases.
Option 3 - I support the Death Penalty in general as legitimate punishment by society as applied to very serious criminal acts.

My opinion on the Death Penalty (Option 1).

I think that the death penalty should be abolished in all cases throughout the world because they can condemn many innocents to death.




There is no scientific evidence to show that the death penalty is a solution to the problem of crime. On the contrary, crime can be reduced by a better trained and equipped police and by an effective system of administration of justice, among other things.




The victims of the crime and the people executed by him are not the only ones who suffer. The families of those condemned to death share the psychological torment of knowing that execution can take place at any moment and suffer enormous pain when it finally takes place. The fight against crime should not create more sadness through more violence. Society must affirm life, not extinguish it.




The death penalty is a violation of a fundamental human right, the right to life.
